ThePLS24PRO is a high-performance, concealed magnetic door catch.
Unlike standard “cabinet magnets” you might see in a kitchen, these are architectural-grade systems designed to hold full-sized, heavy internal doors without the need for a traditional lever handle or tubular latch.
For the Consumer: How It Works & Why You Want It
1. The “Invisible” Hold
The system consists of two round, high-powered neodymium magnetic assemblies: one embedded in the top of your door, and one embedded in the door frame (jamb).
The Magic: When you close the door, the magnets attract each other with significant force, pulling the door tight against the frame.3
No Contact: Crucially, the magnetsnever actually touch.4 They stop about 1–3mm apart. This means there is no “click-clack” noise of metal hitting metal, and no physical wear and tear.5
2. Silent & Smooth Operation
Because there is no metal “tongue” (latch bolt) hitting a strike plate, the door opening and closing experience is completely silent.6 You simply pull the door open (overcoming the magnetic force) and push it shut (letting the magnets catch it).7
3. Adjustable “Pull” Strength
The “PRO” in the name refers to its adjustability. If you find the door is too hard to open, or not holding shut firmly enough against a draft, the magnet strength can be tuned.8 You don’t have to live with a door that fights you.
4. Where to Use It (Applications)
Pivot Doors: These large, modern doors often don’t have standard handles. The PLS24PRO holds them perfectly centered.
“Hidden” or Jib Doors: If you want a door that blends into the wall with no visible hardware, this catch is completely invisible when the door is closed.9
Wardrobes & Double Doors: Perfect for double doors where you don’t want a complicated latch mechanism.10
Pantries & En-suites: Great for doors you want to just “push” open without turning a handle.
For the Fitter: Tech Specs & Installation Secrets
The PLS24PRO is designed to solve the common headaches of installing roller catches (which are noisy and require chiseling).
1. The Mechanism: Static vs. Active
Unlike “Fantom” stops (which have a moving pin), the PLS24PRO uses static magnetic force.
The Assembly: Stainless steel housing cups that hold Neodymium magnets.11
The Adjustment: It uses”Power Adjustment Packers” (shims).12 You place these spacersbehind the magnet inside the cup to push the magnet closer to the surface.
Closer Magnet = Stronger Hold (approx 9kg+ pull force).
Deeper Magnet = Weaker Hold.
2. Installation Specs (The “No Chisel” Advantage)
Drill Size: Requires a24mm (approx 1 inch) spade bit or Forstner bit.13
Method: You simply drill two round holes—one in the door header, one in the jamb.14 No rectangular chiseling for faceplates is required.15
Fixing: The cups screw directly into the timber.
3. The Critical “Offset” Rule
This is the most common installation mistake.
Do NOT align them perfectly center-to-center.
You must offset the jamb magnet slightlytowards the door stop (usually by 2-3mm).16
Why? This ensures the magnetic force pulls the doorinwards against the rubber stops/frame, preventing the door from rattling. If you center them, the door will “float” and rattle in the frame.
4. The “XHD” Variant
If you are fitting an oversized solid core door (2.4m+ height) or a door with high wind pressure, look for the PLS24PRO-XHD (Extra Heavy Duty). It has roughly 3x the holding force of the standard unit.
