To ensure your products perform and last as intended, please follow the guidelines below for correct installation and ongoing care.
Installation Guidelines
Please ensure all items are checked prior to installation. Handlezone cannot be held responsible for costs associated with incorrect installation or damaged/faulty items installed without inspection.
General Tips:
- Always use a qualified tradesperson for fitting where possible.
- Carefully check the product, fixings, and finish before installation.
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and level before fitting.
- Do not overtighten screws, especially on lever handles or concealed fixings.
- Use only the fixings provided unless otherwise specified.
Fitting Instructions:
- Most products include fitting instructions, either as a printed leaflet inside the packaging or via a scannable QR code found on the product or label.
- Scanning the QR code will take you directly to the relevant brand’s official website, where you can view, download, and print the full installation guide.
- Where applicable, door fitting templates may also be available to download. Please ensure these are printed at 100% scale (‘actual size’) and that all dimensions are carefully checked before use.
- If you're unable to locate the instructions or would prefer us to send them directly, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to email them across.
Cleaning & Care
Proper care will help protect the finish and functionality of your hardware.
What to Do:
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild soapy water.
- Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a soft towel.
- For stainless steel products, use a stainless steel cleaner periodically to maintain finish.
- Lubricate moving parts (e.g., latch bolts, locks, hinges) annually with a light oil or silicone spray.
What to Avoid:
- Do not use abrasive pads, wire wool, or scouring powders.
- Avoid strong chemical cleaners, bleach, or acidic-based products.
- Do not allow moisture or grime to build up on external products – regular cleaning is essential, especially in coastal or industrial environments.
Maintenance Recommendations
Internal Use:
- Check all fixings are secure every 6–12 months.
- Lubricate internal latches or locks if they feel stiff.
- Wipe handles clean regularly to maintain hygiene and appearance.
External Use:
- Products exposed to weather or high humidity may require more frequent cleaning.
- Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant but not rust-proof – regular wiping is essential in coastal areas.
- Consider upgrading to marine-grade finishes for coastal or high-exposure locations.
Important Notes
- Failure to follow the correct installation or care procedure may result in reduced product performance or lifespan.
- Some natural finishes (e.g., antique brass or bronze) are designed to age over time – this is part of their aesthetic and not considered a defect.
- Handlezone cannot be held responsible for corrosion, discolouration, or surface damage caused by neglect, chemical cleaning, or environmental exposure.
